Hey Booksters, there’s a new novel from the Brazilian author PAULO COELHO called, “Adultery”. It’s getting a lot of buzz and from what we’ve read so far, a very worthwhile read. Paulo is far from an indie author however since reading “The Alchemist” so many years ago and enjoying it, I wanted to give him a shout out here. Also, before dedicating his life completely to literature, he worked as theatre director and actor, lyricist and journalist so we have very much in common personally. However I have yet to dedicate my life COMPLETELY to literature. Will that ever happen? I don’t know. I’m still having fun (and paying the bills) acting and making music. 🙂
Anyway, his new book is about a journalist and wife and mother in her late thirties who confronts the monotony and melancholy of her seemingly perfect life when she bumps into her high school boyfriend. I’m pretty sure many of us have had similar experiences like that, which I like to call “a blast from the past.” Anyway, this chance encounter stirs up old memories and emotions causing her to risk everything in an effort to rediscover her true self.
If you liked any of Paulo’s other creations, such as Brida (1990), The Valkyries (1992), By the river Piedra I sat Down and Wept (1994) and more, have a go at “Adultery“.
